Grad present

I’ve recieved three graduation presents so far and I think they sum up my personality really well. The Luckadoos very kindly gave me gorgeous tulips in an NCSU pint glass. My mom gave me a Trees of the Carolinas book I didn’t have and a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure. Love love love each! :)

In the spirit of memory lane…

Since I’m graduating and all, walks down memory lane have ensued. I found that old picture from freshman year, and forgot I also uploaded these pics of my from 7th grade doing my very first animal programs with the museum. HOLY COW I’M SO YOUNG.

Hair Update

My long hair is really growing on me! (PUN SO INTENDED!) It’s not been this long since freshman year, and I really like it. I’m proud of my ability to pull through! ;) I desperately need a bang trim though. I’m so not ready to step into the no bang world.

ps WOAH I forgot I dyed my hair brown one time freshman year.

Quite Proud

I am quite proud that I was able to successfully incorporate this image into my analysis of scientific writing term paper, “Comparison of Traditional and Emerging Electronic Environmental News Sources.”

“EarthFirst’s articles focus on ‘green celebrities’ and ‘haters.’ ‘Haters’ are individuals and companies that do not embrace the eco-friendliness the audience supports. Articles about ‘haters’ are often accompanied by a doctored image mocking the individual (Figure 1).”

If only I went to Hogwarts and the picture could dance for my professor in my printed report!

In the same paper I also compare the website’s number of Twitter followers and Facebook fans (with a bar graph!) as an indicator of the audience’s age and tech-savvy. Stretching? Maybe. End of the semester so I don’t really care? Yes!

Happy Earth Day

Posted: April 22nd, 2009 | Author: hannah | Filed under: I like trees | No Comments »

Happy Earth Day! This week I’ve been celebrating Earth Day by doing massive amounts of earth-related homework. One project required that I spend a great deal of time making maps. I thought this one was particularly cool. It’s a topographic map that I made “3D” looking with lidar data (a laser from a plane shoots to the ground and then get elevation information).

As Teri said as we worked on this in the library, “That is one sexy map!”

I redesigned my twitter a few weeks ago and the graphic turned out pretty cool, I think:

In other not-so-exciting news, I found out on Friday that I was not accepted into the Master’s program at University of Vermont. GRE wasn’t high enough. :( Definitely not meant to be. I’ve started processing the possibility of staying in Raleigh for another year, and I think that will be okay. Just another obstacle to figure out where I’m supposed to be. I sure don’t know what the heck I want.

Wow. Somehow Maggie and I started talking about livejournal, which prompted me to go to my livejournal, which prompted me to look through old artismypeace files. LOOK WHAT I FOUND:

Artismypeace.net About page, written in Jan 2005:

About
I am Hannah. I like music and writing and painting. Reading is fun and I like to gush things out in my weblog for no particular reason. I like taking pictures and making pretty websites. Other cultures fascinate me. I enjoy trying on clothes when I know that I will not buy them. Volunteering is what keeps me sane, and am in love with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science. Kisses to junior curators <3. I want to go outside of North America someday. I like people, and I like friends. I don't like it when someone is mad at me or holds a grudge. Izone pictures are wonderful. So is good smelling perfume / cologne. I'm hard to understand, but I want people to get me. I'm in love with Salvador Dali and Vincent VanGogh. I don't like fake people, and can't stand myself when I feel fake. I don't have a favorite color, I like color combinations: purple and light green, brown and yellow, yellow and purple. Boys wearing girl pants is adorable. I love it when you comment on my weblog. I like swirls and flowing things. Sesame chicken is good, aswell as chinese buffets.. I like to underwear shop when I am sad. Someday I would like to be a graphic designer. Mm, artsy movies. I try not to be things I am not. I like when people say my name to me. I like driving with the windows down.
