Happy Earth Day! This week I’ve been celebrating Earth Day by doing massive amounts of earth-related homework. One project required that I spend a great deal of time making maps. I thought this one was particularly cool. It’s a topographic map that I made “3D” looking with lidar data (a laser from a plane shoots to the ground and then get elevation information).
As Teri said as we worked on this in the library, “That is one sexy map!”

For some reason I was just in a very sour mood all day today. I think it was the combination of waking up and being late yet again to NR 400, the “lukewarm bathwater feeling in the air” (thanks for the perf description Mayonce!), none of the printers on my side of campus cooperating, almost forgetting to mail my taxes, blah blah. I just had a terrible attitude all day. I got home and was still feeling in a rut, so I went to pay my old friend Lake Johnson a visit. I walked the whole loop, the non-greenway trail way, with no phone or ipod or anything and just walked along ID’ing trees to clear my head (some people meditate, I ID trees. Dork alert!). I feel immensely better. I got so bogged down in blah blah whatever I forgot to relax in a non veg out way. Ahh.
